Who we are
Harrisons Hair Team Ltd is responsible for the personal information we use to run our salon and website. You can contact us at Evegate Craft and Business Centre, Station Road, Smeeth, Ashford, Kent TN25 6SX; by telephone on 01303 813062; or by email at evegate@harrisonshairteam.co.uk.
This notice explains how we handle information about customers, people making enquiries and visitors to www.harrisonshairteam.co.uk. We do not operate CCTV.
Information we collect
- Contact details and enquiries, including your name, telephone number, email address and what you tell us when contacting the salon.
- Appointment information, the services you request, service history and preferences needed to manage your booking and provide your service.
- Patch-test records and relevant allergy or sensitivity information. This can include health information, which receives additional protection under data protection law.
- Client photographs and information about permission to use them.
- Marketing preferences and records of consent or objections.
- Technical information needed to operate and protect the website, such as IP addresses, browser information, security logs and cookie choices.
We obtain information directly from you and through the booking services you choose to use. Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry or appointment. Without necessary contact, appointment or safety information, we may be unable to arrange or safely provide a service.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Bookings and services: to answer enquiries, arrange appointments and provide the services you request. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, or performing that contract.
- Customer service, business administration and website security: our legitimate interests in responding to customers, maintaining reliable records and protecting our business and website, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligations: where we must keep or disclose information to meet applicable legal requirements.
- Marketing: consent where required for promotional emails. Any use of the existing-customer exception must meet its requirements, including an opportunity to opt out when details are collected and in each message.
Patch-test and health information: we keep relevant records to help assess treatment safety and maintain a history of patch tests. Health information requires additional protection. Please contact the salon for details of the lawful basis and special-category condition applicable to your records.
Client photographs
We keep client photographs. Use of a photograph as a private service record is separate from publishing it on our website, social media or marketing materials. Please contact us to ask how your photographs are used or to discuss permission for publication.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew consent. Publicly shared photographs may have been copied or shared by others outside our control.
Marketing choices
We send marketing emails. You can stop these at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a message or contacting the salon. An opt-out from marketing does not prevent necessary appointment or service messages.
Who receives information
Online booking links on this website lead to Phorest. Please also read Phorest’s privacy notice when using its services. Relevant information may be handled by our booking/software provider, website hosting and maintenance providers, email providers and professional advisers where needed for their work. We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
The website displays Instagram content and Google reviews and includes links to external booking and social platforms. Those providers may receive technical information when their content loads or when you use their services, and their own privacy notices apply to their processing.
Cookies and embedded content
The website uses Complianz to manage cookie choices. Use the “Manage consent” control to review or change the choices available. Some cookies or similar technologies are needed for the site to work; optional technologies must be handled according to the applicable consent rules. Embedded maps, videos, Instagram content and other external services may have their own cookies and privacy practices.
How long we keep information
We retain information for no longer than necessary for the purposes described. The appropriate period depends on the type of record, the customer relationship, the need to maintain service and safety records, applicable legal obligations, insurer requirements and the period during which a claim may need to be dealt with. We then delete or anonymise records where appropriate.
We may retain a minimal record of marketing opt-outs so that we can respect an unsubscribe request. The retention of patch-test records and client photographs is assessed separately according to their purpose and applicable record-keeping requirements. Contact us for information about the retention criteria relevant to your records.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis used, you may ask to access your information, correct it, erase it, restrict its use, object to processing or receive certain information in a portable form. You can object to direct marketing at any time. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw consent.
Contact us using the details above to make a request. We may need information to verify your identity. Some rights have exceptions, including where records must be retained to meet a legal obligation or deal with legal claims.
Concerns and complaints
Please contact us first if you have a question or concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our practices or relevant requirements change. The review date will appear at the top of the published notice.
